Current Projects

The MMHF is actively working in communities throughout Oregon to find solutions to our housing underproduction crisis. This includes facilitated community workshops to brainstorm solutions and get them moving; national searches for scalable innovations; and supporting groups of employers directly. If your organization or community can benefit from building more workforce housing, please contact us.

Newberg Workforce Housing Consortium

The MMHF is collaborating with a consortium of area employers, the city of Newberg, and the Strategic Economic Development Corporation (SEDCOR) to find and implement innovative workforce housing solutions. This initiative is supported by up to $3M in Oregon state funding that will be reinvested and scaled over time.

Supporting Innovation Companies

The MMHF supports research and development, prototyping of new designs, technologies, and products, and the creation of new programs that contribute to housing construction cost reduction at scale through grants, investments, and partnership.

Bend Workforce Housing Solutions Summit

In partnership with the Bend Chamber of Commerce and Leadership Bend, the MMHF helped to lead and facilitate a workforce housing solutions summit in Bend. Over 70 attendees from Portland and central Oregon gathered to brainstorm solutions and develop six action plans to create more workforce housing in the region.

Workforce Housing Solutions Summits and Working Groups

Around the state of Oregon, the MMHF is building relationships with local partners to organize collaborative meetings to activate change and create more workforce housing. Over the last year and a half, we have hosted housing solutions summits in three cities, with additional ones in the works.

Metals Fabrication

The MMHF is investigating the feasibility of using an existing metals fabrication facility to create components for the housing industry. The facility has historically hosted heavy metal manufacturing companies but is scaling down production. In an effort to utilize existing equipment, transportation networks, and workforce, the MMHF is proposing a complementary use for the site while creating a national center of excellence for metal housing component manufacturing.
